Creative Director

The Multiplayer Guys are looking for an experienced Creative Director who will take responsibility for design management and mentoring, as well as being a key member of the project leadership group.

Reports To: CEO.

Location: Nottingham.

Responsibilities

  • Champion the overall creative direction for a number of high profile games in conjunction with our clients
  • Collaborate with leadership to define creative direction for our clients games
  • Evangelize and pitch ideas to the Executive team and generate excitement and enthusiasm
  • Possess a deep understanding of new trends driving player expectations and behaviors
  • Understand how user-generated content and experiences are shaping products in the market
  • Sensitivity to mass-market appeal, and the ability to innovate within it
  • Generate wide-spread support for vision/direction
  • Oversee core design vision and implementation, working directly with designers, producers, programmers, artists, and development
  • Proactively communicate progress and resolution of problems with the ability to set guidelines for the team
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to peers and junior design staff, assisting them in the resolution of complex problems and growing their skills and knowledge
  • Represent games produced in both internal and external communications. This includes delivering strong presentations and taking responsibility for internal reviews with key organizational stakeholders, partner companies, and handling external interviews with the media
  • Be accountable for the quality targets as well as the results achieved
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • You have worked on multiple high-profile game titles during your career
  • An extensive design management track record and demonstrable ability to support, develop, and inspire your team
  • You are flexible, highly motivated, and approachable, with excellent communication skills
  • You have a demonstrable track record of quality
  • At least two published titles in a Creative Director or a Lead Designer role
  • 3 years free-to-play experience with a solid knowledge of free-to-play mechanics
  • Ability to investigate player demographics and focus on what players are looking for
  • Proficiency in all aspects of game design including: UX & UX principles, core and meta gameplay, game structure, balancing, reward systems, acquisition, retention, monetization, and social
  • Strong ability with all phases of development, from prototyping ideas, to evaluation and analysis of player data to provide meaningful feedback and guidance to the team
  • Clear understanding of games as a business and the current market

Senior Software Engineers/Software Engineers (Backend Services)

The Multiplayer Guys are looking for experienced Software Engineers with backend services experience. We are working on some of the coolest games on the planet right now, with new projects flooding into the studio, including the world biggest multiplayer game and a next generation console MMO RPG.

Reports to: Lead Software Engineer 

Location: In our studios in Nottingham or London are ideal, remote working will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Working as part of a project team on a backend “games-as-a-service” (GaaS)
  • Implementation of robust, highly scalable microservice based architecture
  • Understanding project requirements and implementing changes and new features as appropriate
  • Creating tests, and creating/maintaining documentation as required
  • Other project duties as required

Requirements

  • A strong programmer with professional experience in backend services (prior gaming experience not essential)
  • Previous experience with GaaS development is highly desirable
  • Previous experience with the implementation of RESTful interface
  • Previous experience in as many of the following languages: Java, C#, Node.js
  • Golang experience is highly desirable but not essential
  • Hosting experience with as many of the following:  Amazon AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure
  • Strong Database experience with both SQL and No SQL highly desirable
  • Attention to detail with a strong ability to analyse and comprehend direction

  • Design and implement functionality for AAA external clients
  • Responsible for implementation in a number of areas including but not limited to gameplay, AI, UI, Multiplayer, Core Tech
  • Lead a small team of Programmers/Senior Programmers, ensuring exceptional level of service to our clients
  • Identify and highlight any potential risks in the solutions that are being worked on
  • Solve problems through the application of sound software engineering principles
  • Continuously work to minimise technical and maintenance issues
  • Champion quality in The Multiplayer Guys and our clients development process
